Seo leabhar a foilsíodh i dtosach na n-ochtóidí nuair a bhíothas ar intinn ag Raidió na Gaeltachta cúrsa Rúisise do thosaitheoirí a chraoladh.  Faraor, de dheasca easpa airgid agus eile, níor éirigh riamh an tsraith clár a thabhairt chun críche in aon chor.  Tamall ó shin agus mé in áiléar an tí bhí seantéipeanna agus cúpla ceann de na leabhair ina luí ar an urlár faoi chóta deannaigh.  Tá beagnach tríocha bliain imithe anois ó aimsir na ceannródaíochta sin nuair a bhí an tSóivéid fós faoi lánseol.  Sna laethanta sin, bhí orainne gach litir a chuimilt amach ar phíosa páipéar ó bhileog letraset ó nach raibh aon aibítir Choireallach ar fáil ag an chlódóir.

This book was published in the early eighties when Raidió na Gaeltachta entertained the idea of broadcasting a Russian language course for beginners.  Alas, due to financial considerations the project never really took off the ground.  A while ago, when up in the attic of our house, I noticed the old tapes and a few of the books still lying on the floor under a coat of dust.  Almost 30 years have past since those pioneering times when the Soviet Union was still in full swing.  In those days, we had to rub each individual letter off a letraset sheet onto a piece of paper because our printer has no cyrillic fonts.
